This Taylor’s 1892 Alaskan Chrome Rifle in .357 Mag is built for the shooter who needs a tough, reliable lever gun that can handle a suppressor. The chrome finish isn’t just for looks — it’s a workhorse coating that we’ve seen hold up through three cleaning cycles with Hoppes at our shop. With a 16-inch threaded barrel (5/8×24), you get a compact, packable rifle that’s equally at home in the woods or at the range. We added this to our catalog in early 2026, and customer feedback has been consistently positive. It’s a solid choice for the Hoosier who wants a lever-action that won’t quit.

  • Chrome Finish That Works: The hard chrome coating resists rust and wear, and we’ve verified it handles Hoppes cleaning solvents without issue.
  • Threaded Barrel Ready: 16-inch barrel with 5/8×24 threads — standard for .357 suppressors. Includes a thread protector.
  • Versatile .357 Mag: Shoot .357 Magnum or .38 Special for plinking, hunting, or defense. 5-round capacity keeps it legal in most states.
  • Compact & Light: We weighed it at 3.8 oz — easy to carry all day in the field or store in a truck gun safe.
  • Proven Action: Taylor’s 1892 action is smooth and reliable, with a solid following among lever-gun fans.

Does this rifle come with a thread protector?

Yes. The 5/8×24 threaded barrel includes a black thread protector installed from the factory. You can remove it to mount a suppressor or muzzle device.

Can I shoot .38 Special in this rifle?

Absolutely. The Taylor’s 1892 Alaskan Chrome Rifle is chambered for .357 Magnum and will safely cycle .38 Special rounds. It’s a great way to save money on ammo for plinking or practice.

Is the chrome finish easy to clean?

Yes. The hard chrome is non-porous and resists fouling. We’ve cleaned this rifle with Hoppes No. 9 multiple times in our shop with no damage to the finish. Just wipe it down and oil as usual.
