Does this AK use standard AR magazines?
No — the SAM5 uses proprietary Arsenal 5.56 steel magazines. They’re robust and reliable, and we stock them separately. Some aftermarket AK-74 pattern mags may work with minor fitting, but we recommend sticking with Arsenal mags for 100% reliability.
Is this compatible with standard AK furniture?
Most standard AKM furniture will not fit without modification because the SAM5 has a milled receiver. There is a growing aftermarket for milled AK parts, but we suggest checking fitment with the manufacturer before buying. The factory furniture is solid and ready to go.
Will the SAM5 accept a suppressor?
Yes — the barrel is threaded 1/2×28, which is the same as most AR-15 muzzle devices. You can attach a direct-thread suppressor or use a muzzle brake that accepts a suppressor mount. Just make sure the can is rated for 5.56 and the barrel length.
